Detailed itinerary

What you'll see and do

This is a customisable trip

Use the following itinerary for inspiration. Remember: all days, hotels and activities can be altered to suit your requirements. A 3e Travel travel specialist will be happy to advise.

Arrive at Cetinje

Arrive at Dubrovnik, Tivat or Podgorica and transfer to your first accommodation in Cetinje with an organised transfer available upon request. You will then meet with a representative of our agency, who will give you an introduction to the tour, tour documents will be handed out and rental bike fittings will take place.

Through the heart of Montenegro

Today's tour takes you to the biggest lake of the Balkan peninsula, Lake Skadar. You follow the old road that connects Cetinje with Rijeka Crnojevića. You continue to ride along the lake until you reach Virpazar. You will be rewarded with wonderful panoramic views of the lake. Virpazar is the centre of the most famous wine region of Montenegro, where the renowned Vranac wine is produced.

Included meals: Breakfast

Virpazar to Ostros

You will cycle from Virpazar to Ostros on small winding roads. Some of the sections of the journey run right above the lake with breathtaking panoramas facing the Albanian Alps, the accursed mountains, with peaks more than 2,000 m/1,242 ft high.

This is the most physically challenging section of the journey, but can be customised to fit your fitness level.

Included meals: Breakfast

Gateway to northern Albania

Today you will cross the border from Montenegro to Albania. From the border you will follow the main road to Shkodra, the second largest city in Albania, but do not worry about traffic, Albanian’s are used to cyclists. You will have time to explore the quaint, ancient city-centre of Shkodra.

Included meals: Breakfast

Lunch at the Drin River

Cycle to the Drin River and reward yourself with a lunch at one of the best restaurant experiences Albania has to offer, the slow-food restaurant “Mrizi I Zanave” (“Garden of the Fairy”). You can either choose to return along the same way you came or we can pick you up right from the restaurant and transport you by shuttle to Lovcen National Park in Montenegro.

Included meals: Breakfast

Lovćen National Park to the Bay of Kotor

Today's tour takes you directly from the mountains to the sea along the famous Austro-Hungarian serpentine road, with the most beautiful panoramic views in the Bay of Kotor descending down the “Serpentine Road.”, you’ll cruise downhill for more than 30 km. Along the road there will be several great spots to stop for photos. You finish your tour directly in front of the old town of Kotor, where you can enjoy its Mediterranean atmosphere.

Included meals: Breakfast

Highlights of the Bay of Kotor

At the end of your bike trip you can explore the picturesque sights in the Bay of Kotor. Don't miss the baroque sailor's town of Perast with its two church islands but there is much more to see! Once again, you can count on a beautiful route, directly along the sea.

Included meals: Breakfast

Return home

The absolutely incredible scenery and the very friendly and welcoming people of Montenegro and Albania. One of my favourite holidays ever. Everyone was so accommodating on our trip. The hotels we stayed in were very friendly and did their best to make sure we had a comfortable stay.

One of the best tours, it had everything. Stunning hikes during the day and then we could relax back at the hotel
and on the beaches, swimming and snorkeling. The whole team at 3e travel were amazing and they do all the
hard work for you (besides the hiking, but that makes the view so much more special). I can't recommend
3E enough, and we'll definitely use them again to explore the surrounding areas next time we get to
go back.

I am a regular cycle visitor to the Adriatic coast but had little knowledge of Montenegro. I found 3e on the internet and was glad I did. I told them our dates, number or riders and ability and they did the rest. They came up with an excellent itinerary, sorted accommodation and bikes and supported us on the ride. Without their local knowledge we could not have discovered the fantastic rides and places without 3e. Angelika was just fantastic. Hope to get back for some trail rides soon.

I cannot praise Angelika and the team at 3e highly enough. I wanted to organise a trip for 40 friends to Montenegro to celebrate my partner's 50th birthday. a friend recommended 3e. I contacted Angelika and explained our rather complicated requirements - with a combination of long hikes and adventure sports for some, relaxation for others, lots of culture and history, authentic experiences, good food and wine, hip locations and boutique accommodation, and all of it for not too high a budget! much to my amazement, she came back to me within 24 hours with a proposed itinerary which exactly matched our requirements - she immediately understood the style that our group was looking for, and after that we only made minor changes to the basic itinerary. From then on, everything about the organisation could not have been smoother - the communication back and forth was fast, the 3e team successfully greeted our guests arriving at 3 different airports on multiple different days, all of o...
